Welcome to the Greystones Archaeological & Historical Society website.

The Society was established in Greystones in 1988 and has been very active since this time, meeting on average ten times per year. There are currently about 80 members in the Society. For information on our meetings, go to meetings.

The objectives of the Society are broadly to:

  • Actively promote interest in, and awareness of, the North Wicklow archaeological/historical heritage
  • Preserve and protect the sites of Archaeological and Historical interest in the North Wicklow area
  • Gather and record information relevant to local archaeology, genealogy and local history, and to publish this information

We achieve the latter objective by publishing, in paper form, an occasional Greystones Archaeological & Historical Society Journal which collects together papers of local interest, often those presented to meetings of the Society. To date we have completed four such journals and these are now accessible online. To view them, go to journals. Other material of general interest to the Society can be accessed at resources.

Finally, if you would like to find out more about the Greystones Archaeological & Historical Society or if you would like to join the Society, please e-mail us at contact.
